The Walworth County Cloggers offer first-rate clogging instruction in contemporary style clogging from beginner to competition level in a fun, family friendly club environment.
The low cost program –reasonable lesson fees, no studio attire requirement, optional performing and only one performing uniform for our several shows—is a great way to combine a love for dance with exercise and a team experience.

| With the largest youth clogging program in the state and our new adult recreational program, the Walworth County Cloggers continue their commitment to creating a positive clogging experience for our dancers and audiences. |

Our talented instructors provide quality clogging instruction in a fun, family friendly club environment. They are ready to help you discover the rewards of learning a new skill and eager to welcome you to our circle of friends.

Our team is dedicated to constant improvement. We have worked with several national instructors -- bringing them to our group to help us learn how to be our best. It is important to have this input to make sure we are teaching and practicing the skills and techniques properly. Over the years we have worked with Blake Bartlett, Stan Webb, Buzz and Jessie Venhuizen and Rob and Sheryl Keller. In addition we travel to workshops and competitions to further our knowledge base.

| Our youth performance team dancers, Walworth County Cloggers, have been entertaining audiences since 1996 – and our founding members have been dancing together since 1989. The years of experience, focus on teamwork and commitment to creating a positive clogging experience for both dancer and audience have produced an amazing youth team that can be seen at fairs, festivals and schools. |

I'll start by introducing myself...Shannon
I began clogging with Clowntown Cloggers, under the direction of Cheryl "Smitty" Runyon (who brought clogging to our area) when I was a teenager. (My mom was a clogger with them and I joined after seeing all the different clogging groups at a state convention -- I was so impressed with clogging as a dance form I just had to give it a try.) After graduating high school, I began teaching youth classes for them and continued to teach as I attended college. The youth group I taught was called the "Ringmasters". (We have 7 original Ringmasters still clogging with us today!)
I participated in the C.L.O.G Certified Clogging Instructor program to gain as much knowledge as I could about clogging and teaching clogging and to earn the designation, CCI. Meeting and working with other clogging instructors helped me see all the possibilities clogging offered.
In 1996, I formed Walworth County Cloggers -- an all youth clogging group -- with the hopes of creating a team-focused experience for youth dancers. I wanted the dancers to be proud to be part of the team and excited to show others what they could do with clogging. We started in a 'homemade studio' in the basement of my parents home. In 2000, we found a new studio home at the Walworth County Gymnastics and Dance Center in Elkhorn and have continued to rent studio space from them since.
I also wanted to create a group that could offer a quality experience to its dancers at a reasonable cost. To this day, the instructors and I do not draw a salary for our work -- rather we choose to donate our time and effort to help keep the costs involved more affordable to our members. We love clogging and want to share it with others -- but it's not our 'life'. I think this helps us as we make plans for the group -- such as classes, shows and additional events. We are trying to fit clogging into our busy lives just like our dancers. And we want to be able to have fun and do new things with the group but keep the costs low for our dancers and for ourselves too.
Outside of clogging I enjoy spending time with my family, reading and a good cup of coffee! My husband and I have three young children. I have my degree in counseling but left work (I primarily worked with youth and families) to stay home with our children while they are young. Besides my kids and clogging, I keep busy with our clogging vendor business and our farm. We run a dairy farm and raise beef cattle. While my husband is at work during the day I (try to) keep things running smoothly around home.
The group of instructors I work with are some of the most fabulous young women I know. I am always impressed with their willingness to give their time to the group, to share their hobby with others and to work with me to create a fabulous experience for our dancers. We have been dancing together so long it makes it easy to work together -- and we love what we do. Several are 'original founding members' -- so they have been with on the journey as we have grown and changed.

Meet our Assistant Director, Carrie, one of my first students:
I have been clogging for about 19 years and have enjoyed all of it!
I have worked with all age groups and levels although especially like working with the kids that are trying to work on Advanced skills.
My favorite part about clogging is not only the dancing and choreography, but being able to influence kids in a positive way to help them with day to day troubles. When not clogging I enjoy hang out with my family and the friends that I have made through clogging as well.

Meet our Club Director, Kim:
I have been clogging for about 11 years now! I was first exposed to clogging at the Walworth County Fair and after watching the performance for a couple of years I joined the group. I'm excited to start my journey as an instructor because it opens up more doors for me in clogging. I enjoy working with those who are new to clogging because I enjoy challenging them while watching them grow. What I love most about the WCC is that we have a lot of fun at practice and performances, and we are always adding new and different styles into our routines. I love how clogging is always evolving into something new with our group. When I'm not clogging, I enjoy spending time with my dog, a black lab named Riley. I also enjoy baking and spending time on our family farm.

Meet Alison, also one my first students:
Hello! I have been clogging for about 20 years (since I was 6 years old)! I have truly enjoyed seeing all of the changes that this dance form has went through throughout all of these years! I have been teaching for approx. 8 years and have enjoyed working with every age and ability level. I enjoy being part of the Walworth County Cloggers; a great team environment for everyone! It’s wonderful to have made such great friends while clogging. Besides clogging, I am also a Kindergarten teacher, and I enjoy spending time with my family.

Meet Kristin who joined the Ringmaster gang when she was in 6th grade: Besides spending time with my family and friends, I also love to clog with the WCC. When I was in 3rd grade, I was introduced to clogging and from there, I was hooked. I started off with the Clowntown Cloggers from Delavan, Wisconsin, but got transfered over to the Ringmasters when I was in middle school. Currently I have been dancing for about 16 years and teaching for about 8 years. The best part of clogging is the memories we make as each year goes by, for example the parades, school shows, fair performances, fun nights, etc. Clogging has always been a passion of mine, especially with all the great experiences that I have created. Our clogging family is constructed with creative, energetic role models that just want to have fun. Outside of clogging, I am a manager of my family-owned restaurant, catering service and banquet hall. |
We would also like to recognize our "Retired Instructor" Jody -- another one of our "Ringmaster Gang" who instructed for us since 2000. A recent 'new mom', Jody has stepped down as an active instructor but remains an important part of our Walworth County Clogger history as her creative choreography ideas influenced our overall performance style. Thanks Jody for all your hard work and your continued support of the group! |
Meet Alli, who started dancing with us when she was in 2nd grade:
(You'll have to wait to meet Alli when she submits her instructor bio.) |
Meet Michelle, who also started dancing with us when she was in 1st grade:
Hi I'm Michelle! I have been a member of the Walworth County Cloggers for about 11 years now and have loved every minute of it. I started clogging in first grade and have made so many friendships and had so mych fun over the years. I am excited to be an instructor in this group because of the fun and confidence it provides to its dancers. As an instructor I love coming to clogging every Sunday to work with the girls and watching them grow into amazing dancers. I hope that my love for clogging may rub off on them! I love learning all the new routines and performing, but most of all I love teaching the younger dancers! Outside of clogging I play volleyball, basketball, and softball. I also pariticpate in school activities and love hanging out with my friends.

They will be working in the studio with the instructors, helping with classes, working one-on-one with students, and assisting with all the 'behind-the-scenes' stuff as they work towards becoming a Walworth County Clogger instructor. |
And our newest addition to our clogging program... our adult cloggers meet on Tuesday nights with Brittany and Trisha. (Check out more info on the adult program page.)
 |
| Hello my name is Brittany. I have been clogging for 12 years and I have enjoyed every year of it. What I most enjoy about clogging is meeting new people, learning new steps, and doing the fun stuff together as a group such as fun nights, parades, car washes, school shows, and the amazing fair show. Outside of clogging I work as a CNA(Certified Nursing Assistant) I love working with people so nursing is what I would like to study after I graduate high school this coming June. I love to babysit and am very involved with 4-H and School activites |
